Significance (महत्व)
Ganesha is worshipped as the harbinger of auspicious beginnings, wisdom, and fortune. His worship is deeply rooted in spiritual symbolism:

Puja Vidhi (पूजा विधि)
- Begin with early morning bath and wear clean clothes
- Place a clay Ganesha idol on a decorated pedestal facing east or north
- Offer flowers, durva grass, modaks, sweets, fruits, and light a diya
- Perform the sixteen-step (Shodashopachara) worship essentials
- Avoid sighting the moon on the first day (26th afternoon and 27th morning), as per legend of Ganesha’s curse
- Conclude the festival with Visarjan (immersion) on 6 September—Anant Chaturdashi
Vrat Katha (व्रत कथा)
Legend says that Ganesha was created by Goddess Parvati. Lord Shiva, unaware, beheaded Him, then replaced His head with that of an elephant, granting Him life again. Ganesha thus became the first deity to be worshipped before any ritual—a beacon of wisdom and removal of obstacles.

- Modak and Bhajans: Homes and public pandals are decorated while devotees offer Ganesha’s favorite sweets and chant devotional songs
- Pandal Extravaganzas: Temporary community stages showcase elaborate idols and cultural programs
- In Hyderabad’s Khairatabad, a towering Ganesha idol is installed and later immersed in Hussain Sagar lake.
